You don’t really choose the process that works for you, the photographs you want to take, a lot of times it comes to you. It’s what you are drawn to. It’s what feels right.
When we asked Sarah Symmonds about her interest in wet plate collodion tintypes, she brought up something we've heard echoed before by other contemporary photographers, “I was burnt out from the massive volume of shots, the impermanence and intangibility of digital photography, I never felt like I had a finished ‘thing’”
These prints, as well as others, will be up at Oakland's FM Gallery through the month of August, in Sarah's first solo show (!), Present History.
