Rohnert Park

In the same year that the U.K. transferred sovereignty of Hong Kong back to China, at the age of 9, Paul Hoi and his family emigrated to the United States. When they arrived, they sampled four different Northern California suburbs, before they finally settled in a small town above San Francisco.

As an adult, after spending time away for school, Paul moved back in with his family for a year and made this series. He says of Rohnert Park, “It was a place I knew to be home, but didn’t feel to be home.”
